Family Planning

Family planning, the planned and provided for creation of life, can bring to fulfillment life's ultimate joy. Yet so many, through lack of knowledge, find themselves faced with the prospects of an unplanned child simply because they did not consider the consequences of their actions. In today's times of sexual enlightenment, it is imperative that everyone know and understand all the alternatives available.

Knowing your birth control alternatives can prevent having to make quick, uninformed decisions. At Crist Clinic, you're not just a body with symptoms. You're a complete person who deserves the best overall healthcare possible.

The Crist Clinic provides on-staff counseling to answer questions about family planning. Contraceptives, male and female sterility and fertility testing, sterilization and abortion are also available at the Clinic.

Our counselors will discuss contraceptive alternatives with you. Birth control methods only work with your willing cooperation, so it's important that you choose the right method for your particular needs.

Female sterilization can be performed at a near by outpatient facility by Laparoscopy, sometimes referred to as the "Band-aid operation". A laparoscope is a telescope about 12" long and 1/2" wide which is inserted through an incision just below the naval. it enables the physician to examine the pelvic organs. Laparoscopy is also useful in helping patients with fertility / sterility problems.

Other methods of sterilization can also be performed. The Clinic's counselors will help you with your choice.

The Crist Clinic is licensed by the State of North Carolina to perform outpatient abortions. The procedure includes a medical history, physical, PAP smear, gonorrhea culture, blood type and Rh, a six week check up and contraception. Abortions after the twelfth week can be performed in the Clinic, or when appropriate, the patient may be hospitalized.

Every woman who comes to the Clinic for an abortion is urged to participate in discussions about the procedure and its effects. After-care and methods for preventing unwanted pregnancy are also discussed.
